LEGAL ASSISTANT JOB OPPORTUNITY

 

Description: Small law firm focusing on immigration, personal injury, criminal and traffic cases is seeking a part-time legal assistant interested in the legal field. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is able to work independently; is highly organized with the ability to prioritize and proactively manage a large caseload; is detail-oriented and accurate; and has outstanding communication and writing skills.

 

Must be able to work in a high performing environment with impeccable time management skills. The candidate will be responsible for handling claims from inception through resolution and assisting the attorney in all aspects of the case. Excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to apply to law school. The position entails extensive contact with clients, attorneys, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and more. Ability to self-teach new software in the legal tech field is a plus. 

 

Duties & responsibilities: Opening, organizing and maintaining case files and keeping the electronic files up to date; drafting and filing legal motions; gathering and analyzing intake information and relevant documents; following-up with investigative inquiries; maintaining contact with clients on a regular basis; preparing documents and correspondence; collecting documentation of all damages sustained such as medical records, bills and loss of income; reading and interpreting medical records and reports and summarize. 

Must be able to jump into an existing caseload and move cases forward; have a strong work ethic and be able to work well in a fast paced environment; have great people skills as the position requires a great deal of client contact; be able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; and have above average computer skills and interest to modernize the practice.

 

Preferred skills: Paralegal or administrative experience preferred, but not required. Above average technical skills, a self starter who is used to self teaching cutting-edge management software;  Candidates with Spanish abilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
