Maricé Morales, Esq. has focused her practice in the areas of criminal defense, immigration, and personal injury. Ms. Morales not only has vast experience in Immigration and in  Maryland’s state courts, but has authored legislation that we apply in our state courts today. Ms. Morales's unique perspective on legislative changes to our criminal, civil and administrative codes give her a vantage point in her approach to reaching the best results for her clients. 

Ms. Morales was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates as the first Latina representing District 19 in Montgomery County in 2014. She was the youngest Latina to serve at the state level in the country. Ms. Morales served as founding member and Vice-Chair of the Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus. During her time in Annapolis, she sponsored legislation to reform the criminal justice system, protect immigrant communities, protect workers’ rights, and combat the rape culture in our country. Ms. Morales sat on the Judiciary Committee for her first two sessions where she worked on major criminal justice reform, including Justice Reinvestment, the elimination of mandatory minimums, bail reform, and police accountability. Ms. Morales was later assigned to the Health and Government Operations Committee, where she focused on insurance coverage, mental health issues, and reproductive justice.

Ms. Morales was recently recognized by several organizations for her leadership on women’s and immigrant issues for her work as lead Sponsor of the Maryland Trust Act which would have protected immigrant Marylanders from the hateful anti-immigrant orders from the current administration. She received the Governor’s Award for her work combating Human Trafficking; and was the recipient of the Outstanding Public Service Award in recognition of her contributions to the welfare of the Latino community through public service from several local organizations. Ms. Morales was recognized this year as one of the top 100 Most Influential Latina Leaders in the DMV.

Before becoming elected, Ms. Morales’s legal work extends from the Public Defender’s Office in New Orleans, LA to San Jose, Costa Rica at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. She was also a judicial extern in the Arlington County Circuit Court in the criminal and family law dockets. Fighting systemic racism and discrimination has been at the forefront of Ms. Morales’ work. She has done pro bono immigration-related work at World Relief, where she represented people pursuing U-Visas and naturalization applications.

From canvassing neighborhoods to encouraging jury participation in Louisiana, to contributing to the international legal framework around discrimination and excessive force against afro desendents, Ms. Morales is constantly fighting to reinforce the basic human and constitutional right to equality under the law. Ms. Morales is invested in her community and serves on three different boards. She was appointed by the Governor to serve as a Trustee on the Montgomery College Board of Trustees. She also is a board member with the Jewish Council on Aging and Emerge Maryland. Finally, she is a contributing writer with Maryland Matters, a well followed political blog in the State of Maryland. Ms. Morales has a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law, where she served as a member of the International Law Moot Court Team. She also has a Master’s in Public Policy and a Bachelor’s in Global Affairs and French from George Mason University. Ms. Morales is fluent in Spanish, French and English.

La Abogada Morales no solo tiene una vasta experiencia en el sistema judicial de Maryland, sino que también es autor de la legislación que aplicamos hoy en nuestros tribunales.

La Abogada Morales fue elegida para la Cámara de Delegados de Maryland como la primera latina que representaba el Distrito 19 en el condado de Montgomery en 2014. Fue la latina más joven en servir a nivel estatal en el país. La Abogada Morales se desempeñó como miembro fundadora y vicepresidenta del Comité Legislativo Latino de Maryland. Durante su tiempo en Annapolis, patrocinó legislación para reformar el sistema de justicia penal, proteger a las comunidades de inmigrantes, proteger los derechos de los trabajadores y combatir la cultura de la violación en nuestro país. La Abogada Morales formó parte del Comité Judicial durante sus dos primeras sesiones, donde trabajó en la reforma de la justicia penal, incluida la reinversión de la justicia, la eliminación de los mínimos obligatorios, la reforma de la fianza y la responsabilidad policial. Posteriormente, la Sra. Morales fue asignada al Comité de Operaciones de Salud y Gobierno, donde se centró en la cobertura de seguros, problemas de salud mental y justicia reproductiva.

Recientemente, varias organizaciones reconocieron a la Abogada Morales por su liderazgo en asuntos de mujeres e inmigrantes por su trabajo como Patrocinadora principal de la Ley de Fideicomiso de Maryland que habría protegido a las inmigrantes Marylanders de las odiosas órdenes antiinmigrantes de la administración actual. Recibió el Premio del Gobernador por su trabajo en la lucha contra la trata de personas; y recibió el Premio al Servicio Público Excepcional en reconocimiento a sus contribuciones al bienestar de la comunidad latina a través del servicio público de varias organizaciones locales. La Sra. Morales fue reconocida este año como una de las 100 líderes latinas más influyentes en el DMV.

Antes de ser elegida, el trabajo legal de la Abogada Morales se extiende desde la Oficina del Defensor Público en Nueva Orleans, LA hasta San José, Costa Rica, en la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos. También fue extern judicial en el Tribunal de Circuito del Condado de Arlington en los casos de derecho penal y familiar. La lucha contra el racismo y la discriminación sistémicos ha estado a la vanguardia del trabajo de la Sra. Morales. Ha realizado un trabajo pro bono relacionado con la inmigración en World Relief, donde representó a personas que buscan visas U y solicitudes de naturalización.

Desde sondear vecindarios hasta alentar la participación del jurado en Louisiana, hasta contribuir al marco legal internacional en torno a la discriminación y la fuerza excesiva contra los afrodescendientes, Morales lucha constantemente para reforzar el derecho humano y constitucional básico a la igualdad bajo la ley. La Abogada Morales invierte en su comunidad y sirve en tres juntas diferentes. Fue nombrada por el gobernador para servir como miembro del consejo de administración de Montgomery College. También es miembro de la junta del Consejo Judío sobre Envejecimiento y Emerge Maryland. Finalmente, es escritora colaboradora de Maryland Matters, un blog político muy seguido en el estado de Maryland. La Sra. Morales tiene un título de J.D. de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Maryland, donde se desempeñó como miembro del Equipo de Juicios Simulados de Derecho Internacional. También tiene una Maestría en Políticas Públicas y una Licenciatura en Asuntos Globales y francés de la Universidad George Mason. La Abogada Morales habla español, francés e inglés.
